SACO LAKE BATH HOUSE
This bath house was designed to be located in Saco Lake, NH, with three pools within. The bath house plays on the idea of the hill of the site, using levels to elevate the bather's experience and create interesting views throughout.

PROCESS
This two key factors we as a studio looked at for this project was light and the site.
In terms of lighting, we experimented how different planes and openings could create different experiences in light. I researched extensively on Steven Holl, Louis Kahn, and Peter Zumthor's Therme Vals to gain insight on different ways to play with light, as well as how lighting can influence the experience in the bath house. We created a series of physical models to explore how light can penetrate the spaces within the models in different ways.
When considering the site, the site is on a hill that exponentially becomes steeper as one goes further from the lake. I had to consider how the bath house would sit on the site and how I could choose to frame views from the bath house for visitors.
