PROCESS

A rather short design exercise, I started by researching the mint plant which I was assigned. I knew that this planter had to be hung at Phipps Botanical Gardens for two months, so I looked into what a mint plant needed to stay alive, and how large it could grow up to.

I was then inspired by the form of the plant to design the planter. I realized that the mint plant always grows leaves in pairs, and thought this was a unique attribute of the mint plant that I wanted to explore. I also wanted to help with water drainage, so weaved piano wire at the bottom to increase water flow.
